about

Elma McElligott (low whistle), Karen Ryan (low whistle), Conor Doherty (acoustic guitar), Pete Quinn (piano).
The first reel, 'Doras de Rían' ('Rían's Door'), was jointly composed by Elma and Karen during a rehearsal at Karen and Pete’s house in Wood Green. While they were writing the tune, Elma’s three-month-old son, Rían, expressed his enthusiasm by beating out the rhythm on the lounge door – hence the title! Elma learnt the second tune from our great friend, flute player Mick Mulvey, at a session at Cryans Bar, Carrick-on-Shannon. The third reel is a tune which Elma recalled hearing at the Return to Camden Town Festival.
